Eton Pharmaceuticals, Inc. and Aquestive Therapeutics, Inc. have entered into an exclusive license agreement and supply agreement for LIBERVANT (diazepam) buccal film in the United States and its territories. The drug is designated as an orphan treatment for seizure clusters in epilepsy patients.

Under the arrangement, Eton Pharmaceuticals assumes commercial rights and distribution responsibilities for the product. Aquestive Therapeutics retains a supply role under the separate agreement. Eton anticipates commercial availability of LIBERVANT in April 2027, contingent on final U.S. Food and Drug Administration approval.

Eton Pharmaceuticals, based in Deer Park, Illinois, focuses on developing and commercializing treatments for rare diseases. Aquestive Therapeutics, headquartered in Warren, New Jersey, describes itself as advancing medicines through innovative science and delivery technologies.

For portfolio allocators evaluating rare-disease pharmaceutical assets, the timing of market entry matters considerably. Orphan-designated therapeutics typically command premium pricing within smaller patient populations, though revenue visibility depends on real-world adoption rates and payer coverage determinations. The April 2027 target represents a near-term clinical-to-commercial transition point worth monitoring against comparable seizure-management launches and neurological-rare-disease performance benchmarks.

The deal structure—exclusive licensing coupled with manufacturing supply—suggests Aquestive retains some upside through supply arrangements while ceding marketing control to a partner with broader rare-disease distribution infrastructure. Investors in either company should track FDA milestone announcements and any commercial guidance updates as approval approaches.
